There is no outer method in these things. Methods imply that God is a machine wherein you put in certain effort and get a return. But God is living and real, in fact much more living and real, the sole Reality. Treat Him as a friend and confidante. How would you be with a friend or please him? By doing some exercises or repeating some standard prayers? He doesn’t want all this. A spontaneous feeling of love and gratitude, a joy in thinking about Him, taking His Name and calling Him as a child calls his parents, trying to understand what He wants and obeying Him is what is meant by surrender.
Here is what Sri Aurobindo writes.
‘There is no method in this Yoga except to concentrate, preferably in the heart, and call the presence and power of the Mother to take up the being and by the workings of her force transform the consciousness; one can concentrate also in the head or between the eyebrows, but for many this is a too difficult opening. When the mind falls quiet and the concentration becomes strong and the aspiration intense, then there is a beginning of experience. The more the faith, the more rapid the result is likely to be. For the rest one must not depend on one’s own efforts only, but succeed in establishing a contact with the Divine and a receptivity to the Mother’s Power and Presence.’
2) secondly I have learnt kriyas and meditation from other organisations which have helped in calming the mind and healing the body .
These are from other gurus.
Is it okay that i continue these sadhanas and kriyas of other gurus alongside following the mother and sri aurobindo ji.
Yes there is no problem in continuing kriyas and practices that have helped calm the mind and heal illnesses.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
