Upon naturally returning to the Mother and Sri Aurobindo, I found my reading of Savitri and Prayers and Meditations filled with a far deeper intuitive presence, peace, and bhava than before. Yet, I still feel a strong need for a tangible spiritual discipline that engages my entire being rather than letting sadhana slip away during ordinary work. How does one transition in Integral Yoga from intellectual inspiration into a continuous, living practice throughout daily life? Would incorporating a structured aid like japa be appropriate for my temperament, or is there a different way to understand and approach the Integral discipline without mixing paths?
The sadhana once begun never really stops. Yes, one encounters temporary halts, – almost everyone goes through these phases- but that is because we need to assimilate the gains of the sadhana. Often our outer nature may not even recognise. Yet one has received something, but more is not coming in either because the container is small or not yet strong enough. The way to make the vessel wide and strong is through work as Karmayoga. Unlike certain meditative practices that help regain peace and sometimes renewed aspiration. But the main thing needed is work. Take up some work at the Centre nearby and do it as part of the sadhana. The rest will follow. Work will also bring the needed structure as well as the change.
Affectionately,
Alok da
