AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Why does this happen that people are more attracted towards outer beauty? Even in girls/females at my office, I see them investing a lot of time and money in smart dresses, make up, hair styles, footwear etc. And I see people getting preference on the basis of their make up sense, dressing sense, capability of being able to afford luxury and glamour. Why are luxury and glamor appreciated?💄🪞💅🛍️👠

I feel everyone is beautiful from inside and outside and there is no harm in maintaining outer beauty. It can be maintained through healthy diet, exercise, purity of thoughts and actions but why these things are not appreciated. Why is there is need to rely upon beauty products, expensive dresses and skin treatments for maintaining shiny skin?

How can one be beautiful in inner and outer manner naturally. what is beauty? Where does it come from? Why all devas are considered beautiful? In what sense are devis(goddesses) beautiful? On what basis we call The Mother, the jagdamba as beautiful?

The average human being knows only shining glass which he mistakes for a diamond. And when he finds a real diamond he does not yet understand the difference and even when he understands the difference he is not ready to pay the price.

So too with humanity. Most live under the spell of the senses, bound neck deep to appearances, to things they can perceive through the medium of the senses.

Only a rare being is developed enough to look deeper and appreciate the beauty of someone’s thoughts and feelings and aspiration and actions. Rarer still is the person who can dive still deeper and see the beauty of the Soul. So you see it is a question of the evolutionary pyramid. Or to put it more simply only like knows like. One can appreciate in others only what they have discovered in themselves.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

It is not Darwinism but copy-catism if one wants to coin a word. The reason however is twofold. Partly it is due to the strong awakening of Rajas in a society that was, for a rather long time oppressed, supressed and made to feel low, in one word tamas. This is a resurgence of excessive rajas which will sooner or later stabilise and, given the …
