AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

The great Ramanujan was a very peculiar mathematical genius. In contrast to the greatest Western mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777–1855), often called the prince of mathematics, who perceived mathematics as a logical cosmos to be carefully mapped with reason and proof—treating it like a disciplined architect uncovering eternal structures with rigorous precision—Ramanujan approached it like a mystic, intuitively glimpsing patterns as revelations from a deeper reality. He experienced mathematics as a stream of divine intuition, with equations arriving like mantras revealed to his inner vision rather than deductions of the mind.🧑‍🔬🔢🧠➕📐

Ramanujan himself often said his insights were gifts from Namagiri Thayar (Lakshmi of Namakkal), his family’s goddess, who appeared in his dreams and visions, writing equations on his tongue or in the ether, which he would later record.

Would it be right, then, to understand this as ṛtambhara prajna of Patanjali, or in Sri Aurobindo’s gradation of consciousness, as the Intuitive Mind occasionally touched by the Overmind?

Ramanujam (and few scientists of that Age such as Max Plank, Heisenberg, Einstein, JC Bose, Watson and Crick, Newton as well as quite a few others did receive intuitions from the Intuitive and the Overmind plane. Ramanujam was humble and honest to recognize and admit it. The coming of these scientists was part of the preparation of the earth for the manifestation of the Supermind. I am sure you have watched the movies ‘The man who knew infinity’ and ‘What the beep are we doing’ which show the direction in which Science itself was evolving.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I read this little passage from The Mother. I want to know whether Sri Aurobindo is talking about Radha or the Hladini Shakti here. If not, who is the Power of the Mother mentioned here?: 📖😊🙏🏻🌄🌼[…]

Fortunately this question was asked to Sri Aurobindo though in different words. We have a clear, concise and complete answer from him on this issue. The letter is as quoted below.

‘In the Chandi the names of the four Cosmic Powers of the Mother—Maheshwari, Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati—are mentioned along with others, but the name Radha is not mentioned. This is a clear proof of the fact that when the Chandi was composed the Radha-Power was not manifested to the vision of the saints and that the Chandi mentions…

Today I had a remarkable dream. I felt that something profoundly spiritual had happened to India. It seemed that Mother India, the Divine Feminine Power, had become firmly established in the nation, and that a deep realization had awakened in the collective consciousness of the country. 🗺️😊🙏🏻🪷🌄[…]

This is not just a dream but a dream vision. It is true to the details. Yes, Mother India is rising to reclaim Her Glory and redeem the world. The other woman is clearly the anti-divine forces whose time has come. They are angry at the rise of India’s glory and know …

In her prayer of May 17, 1914, Mother writes, “One day thou wilt be my head but for the moment turn thy gaze towards the earth.” When a disciple enquired what the phrase “thou wilt be my head” means, She answered that “The head is the original conceiving Consciousness. “Could you simplify the meaning of all this a little further for me? 📖😊🙏🏻🌼

Head is the hub that conceives whereas heart is the hub that impels towards action.

What the Mother seems to be experiencing here, in this prayer, is to withdraw from everything including all action. She wants to be completely one with the pure Consciousness in its origin. But the command for her is…
