Love doesn’t last forever, or rather rarely lasts because most of the time we do not know what love is. We mistake it for a host of things, such as attraction, affinity, attachments, passions, desires, romantic feelings, sentiments, etc. Love is the urge to give oneself and it is very rare in human beings because, among all the creatures, man carries the burden of the mental ego, which prevents him from giving himself.
Where love is true since it has sprung from the core, from some soul depth, it gets mixed with baser stuff in human nature, such as possessiveness, dominance and all the rest. The energy of love gets sullied and cannot stay in an atmosphere of narrowness unless it changes into compassion.
One has to be very wide and strong, especially in the lower vital parts, to hold this flame for long. Hence, love passes away or else remains but gets buried behind the routine of life or the narrowness that stifles it.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
