AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I worry about my family falling apart, my sister is deciding to shift her base and perhaps my mother might follow her, I fear that all of us will fall apart💔💥🏚️🫨

I understand your feelings and fears but then it is a fact of life we need to reckon with that nobody is there forever. Even physical presence is not enough. So one should try to come out of emotional and physical dependency by turning to the Divine within for every need. We should also understand that true love is not about holding people back for our selfish needs but to help and support them in their unique journey. While you may want that everybody stays together, is it feasible or possible? Your own reason will tell you that it will be a frustrating effort. Nobody stays forever with the family of origin and depends upon their parents or brothers and sisters. People move out on their unique journey pursuing their goals. They get married and hope the partner will stay forever. But that is also an illusion. The sooner one understands this the better it is. One should seek the strength to live alone and yet regard the whole world as one’s large extended family. The family of birth is a first step and not the last one. While this does not mean discarding them but it also does not mean clinging to them forever. Let there be spaces in your togetherness and let love be a bond that connects us inwardly but allows each one to fly and explore and realise their own unique possibilities. What you seem to be wanting is that life and others and destiny should run the course according to what you want. Well that does not happen and there is nothing we can do about it except for accepting this and learning to be strong and independent.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
