It means that Western thought is largely focused around the outer physical field, its life largely centered around vital satisfactions. Of course it is a generalisation and there are exceptions. I am referring to the philosophy of the average human being and not specific Greek, German, Roman, French, British and American philosophers as that would a vast and complex subject. If you are interested you can read Will Durant’s book on the subject or else the original works of Socrates, Plato, Pythagoras, Heraclitus, Plotinus, Marcus Aurelius, Descartes, Goethe, Kant, Voltaire, Eliot and others. It is an interesting and enjoyable experience..
Affectionately,
