AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

My question is: in all religions, there is a concept of calling out to God in a time of need, anxiety, or other tough states of mind. My question is, calling out to The Mother in such a time, is it more a request for direct intercession (like Prahlad and Lord Narasimha) or more a reminder to ourselves to be less fearful? 👑🌌♾️🛡️

I ask this not because I have any doubt about The Mother but only because I have a bad habit of self-doubt and self-criticism and I read their works with the strong voice of superego narrating it for me.

All religions do not believe in the intercession of God in human affairs. Religions like Buddhism and Jainism do not even believe in ‘God’. Vedanta goes on to say that we ourselves, in our deepest essence’ are God. Devotion is mainly found in Vaishnava bhakti and faith and surrender are the masterstroke of the Gita.

Now leaving aside the term superego which is simply a vague and dubious word that explains nothing. Leaving aside also the metaphysics and subtleties, practically we experience ourselves as limited beings. But in our origin we are one with the Creator Himself. By faith, through prayers and devotion and surrender to the Divine we resume our lost connection, the broken link with the Divine. Feeling fearless is a different thing. One may feel fearless and yet be powerless. Besides where does the fearlessness or even the power surge from? From within us, isn’t it? What we mean by this is that there is concealed within us, a latent Power, a Conscious Force that, if unlocked can change the fixed course of things. We may call it God and thereby enjoy a very personal bond and relation with IT and make the access easier. Or we may undertake tapasya and arrive at IT through great inner labour and effort. That choice is ours.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Dada, why do bad things happen to good people? Like, if you are involved in the process of making black money, then you will make more and more, while those who are sincere towards their work and don’t engage in unethical practices tend to make far less money after lots of hard work. 😥💰💔🦋[…]

First of all we must be sure what really is a bad thing. Earning money by dark means is to lose contact with your soul. That is straight road to self destruction. Giving true love to anyone increases the force of love in you. Increase of the energy of love gives natural spontaneous joy. It is not the love that you receive from others that

Sir, Book 1, Canto 4, “The master of existence lurks in us” – This is my absolute favourite, well, for now. I haven’t read the whole Savitri yet, but till now this is my most lovely Canto. I write the whole passage on paper while reading each word; this I do often. 📖📘✒️😊🌾[…]
