AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

How to be involved in day-to-day activities with a mind engaged in consecration to the Divine, as one can focus on one thing at a time, or what should be the state of mind during worldly activities? Or how to constantly have the remembrance of the Divine during worldly affairs?πŸŽ―πŸ§πŸ€”πŸ§ πŸΉ[…]

Or how could Arjuna do it when he was fervently involved in the Mahabharata War while constantly remembering the Lord, also as the way instructed by the Lord? I’m not able to remember constantly; it slips for hours repeatedly and it seems impossible to keep it up.πŸŽ―πŸ§πŸ€”πŸ§

It is natural that this would happen in the beginning. What one should practice initially is to remember the Divine inwardly before and after the action and as oftenΒ as possible in between, say during those little moments of lull that one gets in work. One can also take a conscious, deliberate pause from time to time to spend a few moments in inwardness.

During the flow of the work, try to be a witness watching the action and the inner reactions that keep rising within. This breaks the knot of getting lost in the work.

Keep the inner attitude that the work and its results do not belong to you. What is given to us is only the action at hand and it should be done as a service and worship of the Divine.

As a result,  slowly, a background state develops in us which is a reflection of the Mother’s, full of peace, light, love. We have to then turn within only from time to time to just confirm.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

One can fully understand the space from which this question comes. When we look at this world in all its grim and sordid aspects (and there are plenty if we go down the lanes of history), then it is natural to blame it all on the Creator, to pass a summary judgment convicting the Divine without even trying to understand the reasons why the world is as it is. …
