AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I am currently facing some conflict inside myself and wanted your guidance regarding the same. My mother and father live alone, we are 3 sisters (all of us live in the same city) but me being the elder one have always taken their every responsibility. Even after my marriage I have been taking the responsibility of both the houses equally and my in-laws are quite supportive too. Because my sisters won’t handle everything as I do so I feel if I had done this it would be better. But then it’s too much on my shoulders to handle. Should I be guilty? Because I am leaving it to others to do it and am doing anything wrong with my parents??

But since some time I have been feeling it like a burden and plus because of me doing everything my 2 sisters did not share any of those responsibilities. So now I have started to leave some of them, to divide the work, but then on the other side I also feel a guilt that am I doing anything unfair to my mother and father. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿชบ

There is no question of guilt as all the children should look after the parents equally when they need them. However in reality very often it does happen that the onus of responsibility falls upon the one who is most capable and responsible. This does become taxing at some point and it is a good idea to share it between the siblings. It is also a good opportunity for the parents to interact closer with all the children. So it is perfectly fine that you three sisters share the service of the parents as this is how it should be. It is also good that instead of sharing different days you have decided to share different works so that there is consistency. This is the main thing that stresses the elderly. They find it difficult to adapt to frequent changes and it helps to have consistency in what each one is doing. Naturally it will be differently done by each one as people are different. Wanting your sister to look after the parents as you would do is not the right way to go about. Let each of you bring your own flavour and unique touch and let your parents feel the love and care of all their daughters rather than only one. Besides it will give you the much needed time for your own progress which is an important part of our life. Service of parents is fine but our first responsibility is to fulfil the purpose of our life, to realise the goal of our existence.

Affectioantely,

Alok Da

How can i purify my relationship with the Mother? Asking the Divine for too many things seems selfish and at the same time if i make a promise to myself that i will not ask unnecessary things and face difficulties myself seems not the right thing to do. I feel my relationship with Mother is the most valued thing in my life so how do i make it pure.

Surely we can ask the Divine Mother for what we need. Only our relationship should not be confined to that. One should learn to give, to give out of joy, something of oneself, work, actions, money, something for Her Purpose in …

Pranam Sir. I want to ask about how to deal with negative anticipations, thoughts, and expectations in our daily life. One of my colleagues always targeting me and quarreling with me over each minor issue or mistake and even insults me in front of juniors. He is visually challenged. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ[…]

The best way is to completely ignore him, and if you cannot do so then remain inwardly totally indifferent to him. The best response to people who are hypercritical is complete indifference. The more you try to explain, the more they justify. The more you concede, the more they increase the criticism. But indifference completely flattens them…

What does the chant “OM SHANTI” truly signifyโ€”is peace merely the repetition of a sacred word, or a state to be deeply imbibed within the heart? We often define peace simply as the absence of external conflict, agitation, or turbulence, but this surface calmness is only temporary and amounts to nothing more than restraining turbulent emotions. What, then, constitutes real, unshakable inner peace, and how can one truly attain and sustain it? ๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Peace is not an absence of disturbance. Even inertia is free from disturbance. Peace is something positive and powerful, a fundamental foundational status of the Divine, seemingly equal and non-reactive like Shiva bearing and upholding the dance of Kali upon his chest or the ocean holding its tremendous energy by its own power of self-limitation. maryada. It is a state of concentrated ingatheredness like the mountains or a vast Silence …
