One should be passive only to the Divine Will. If one is sure of the Divine Will in the quietude of one’s inmost heart, then one can be passive to It and obey unconditionally. But otherwise, when one is labouring in ignorance, it is better and safer to make active choices using the discerning intellect. This is best done by keeping oneself free from preferences and desires and see dispassionately what actions are in tune with our highest aspiration and will draw us nearer to our Divine Goal.
