Is there a specific ritual or procedure followed in the Ashram for the removed soil? Kindly shed some light on this sacred process and its spiritual aspects.
It is a similar, if not the same significance as of something touched by the Master or the Mother. In India, it is a common practice to carry the soil of the place where a great being lives or once lived. It is because, very instinctively, Indians understand the law of vibrations that spread through contact and contagion. So the sand that has been placed above the Samadhi, in close proximity to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother’s body, is surely penetrated by the vibrations that emanate from their physical presence in the Samadhi. Of course, whether it will be useful or not to the person who receives it will depend upon the person’s openness and receptivity.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
