AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Would be grateful for your guidance regarding a dream that has stayed with me: I dreamt that I entered an old palace. There were two thrones. On one throne sat a majestic lion, and on the other sat a simple elderly woman with a dark Indian complexion, wearing a plain green saree without any ornaments. 👰🏼‍♀️🦁🪷[…]

She had a very calm and beautiful smile and kept looking at me. I also kept looking at her for a long time and felt peaceful. Throughout the dream, I was wondering why she did not look like the Mother’s physical form.

Later, a Guru appeared, held my hands, and seemed to perform a yajna, but my whole attention remained on that woman who was seating behind with the lion and was watching all this.

I have recently registered for the Linga Bhairavi consecration by Sadhguru. The reason is that, during my very busy ophthalmology residency, I feel I have lost the intensity of my spiritual practice. I still pray to the Mother, but I no longer feel the same inner strength as before. That is why I am pushing myself to attend this consecration, hoping it will help me become more sincere and intense in my sadhana.

The woman you saw was certainly an aspect of Durga. The guru is the priest invoking her and putting you in contact with her. It is quite possible that it was an occult ritual ceremony, a kind of dream initiation in response to your application for the Linga Bhairavi registration. The deity must have been drawn to you specifically due to your inner connection with The Mother. It is clearly not a dream but a dream experience, in fact a dream initiation. My intuitive feeling is that your registration for the course is also not a random chance but the revival of some past sadhana of this or related form.

Affectionately

Alok Da

These dreams and visions belong to the intermediate vital worlds. It is a world that imitates Truth and misleads the soul through aggrandizing the ego and stimulating ambitions and desires. It is good that you defeated their designs and remembered The Mother and Sri Aurobindo.

A few months ago, I felt my practice of Integral Yoga had become overly mental and habitual—gathering concepts rather than living the sadhana—so I stepped away and followed a structured traditional discipline involving mantra-japa. 📖🕯️🙏🏼[…]

The sadhana once begun never really stops. Yes one encounters temporary halts, – almost everyone goes through these phases, but that is because we need to assimilate the gains of the sadhana. Often our outer nature may not even recognise. Yet one has received something but more is not coming in either because the container is small …

Dear Alok da, thank you—the lines from Sri Aurobindo in your email helped immensely, and while old holds haven’t entirely left, they feel looser. I find myself happier in solitude, as outer interactions easily muddle my poise, while an intense inner longing to remain anchored to the Mother, Sri Aurobindo, and Sri Krishna continues to grow. 👩‍👧🕊️🙏🏼[…]
