Or are there two distinct parts involved: one that recognizes and one that offers? Who takes charge of the tapasya at the beginning? The transition from the ego to the psychic being is not clear to me; what brings about this shift? Thank you for your enlightening answers.
Generally, it is the part that is most ready and turns towards the Divine that takes the lead of the Sadhana. It may be the illumined mind in one person, or the deeper heart in another person, or the dynamic will in those who are oriented towards work and service. Behind it, however, there is always the psychic flame that has heard the call and begins to awaken the parts of nature that are asleep in ignorance and covered by the ego. The parts that get touched and wake up take the lead of the sadhana. As a result, the crust of outer nature of which we are conscious begins to melt under the pressure of seeking. On the other hand, there is pressure from within exerted by the psychic flame and, behind it all the Divine Mother’s Grace that acts through the psychic flame as well as on the inner and outer nature. As a result of this pressure from within and without, the crust separating the two melts. As a result, the psychic being emerges from behind and starts taking the direct charge of the sadhana. Once this transition takes place, the rest becomes relatively easy and smooth.
