AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I submitted a proposal dedicated as an offering to the Mother and unexpectedly received the project despite lacking standard credentials. While executing the work, I hit a limitation outside my expertise and prayed for guidance, but it was simultaneously decided to delegate that portion to an outside specialist. 🙏🏻🌱[…]

Now I feel conflicted: was bringing in external help the right course, or does my inner struggle reveal personal attachment and ego?

We must not presume that all that happens in the world is the direct result of the Divine Will. By praying and offering to The Mother we can ensure that the work becomes a means for our inner progress. However, we should not assume that all that comes to us is the result of the Divine Will. Things come from concealed desires, subconscious pulls, karmic transactions and other subtle factors. Similarly, your engagement with the project in response to the prayer doesn’t mean that the project itself is The Mother’s and that She will henceforth decide as to who will work in it and who will share the responsibility. We need to understand that the world at present is not the direct expression of the Divine Will. Yes, the Divine Will is ultimately behind everything and leads us through everything towards an eventual divine destiny. But for now there is a terrible mixture in the world, a clash and conflict of forces, a strife whose far end is hidden from us. Hence our focus should be on the task given to us, the task at hand, and we must do it well as a means of worship of the Divine, dedicating everything, including the results to Her, including success or failure. The rest should not be our concern. That is the larger world play and human consciousness is presently not equipped to handle it.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

“Sri Aurobindo, on the other hand affirms that while suffering and evil are there no doubt, the real purpose of life is a divine fulfilment by progressively embodying Truth and Harmony and Delight. That is our ultimate divine destiny for which the soul plunged into the great adventure of creation.” In true sense, how do we embody Truth, Harmony and Delight in this earthly life? My question is transformation into what kind of Divine destiny?

The Vedas as well as the Gita reveals to us that there is a double nature in man. One is the present human nature that is the product of our material and animal evolution. But there is another, a higher divine nature of which the human is a possible candidate. Truth, Harmony, Peace, Beauty, Delight, Strength are aspects of the Divine Nature which can be acquired by the persistent practice of aspiration, rejection (of the animal tendencies), surrender to the Divine Mother. …

In videos, one often sees The Mother seated while people come one by one to meet her personally. For those who had the opportunity to meet The Mother in this way, is it understood that they go to the plane or world of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother after death?

Yes, The Mother remarked once when a disciple died that She saw Sri Aurobindo’s symbol stamped on her forehead and the great assurance that he gave for all who died in the Ashram would not go through the realms one passes after death. They would come straight to Sri Aurobindo’s dwelling place in the subtle physical world …

Yes, in principle yes. It will be a race of evolved beings who will embody the new consciousness, the new Light that enables them to live in wideness, inner freedom, love, compassion and delight. They are beings full of benevolence and the power to change earthly life through the inner knowledge to which they are open. But their …
