AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

“Discipline is the child of freedom”. Kindly explain it and how both can be synthesised.Β πŸ€¨πŸŒ·πŸ¦‹πŸŒΌ

It is actually the other way round. Discipline brings true freedom. Normally, freedom is considered as doing whatever we like, which is obviously a slavery to the ego and desire-self. Similarly, discipline is considered as a forced external control, which doesn’t help much as far as the true spiritual life is concerned. But when one disciplines the will and thought and emotions and passions and actions consciously with the idea of gaining mastery over lower nature, then it helps us come out of the clutch of desires and hence helps us discover the true spiritual freedom.Β

Affectionately,

Alok Da
