AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

“Within you is a psychic being—a divine being, a direct portion of the Mother, pure and untouched by all these defects. It is hidden and covered by ordinary consciousness and nature. But when its covering is removed and it becomes able to come forward and take control, it transforms the ordinary consciousness, casts out all these undivine elements, and thoroughly transforms the outer nature.” – Sri Aurobindo. How will the psychic being come forward and change our nature? 😊🙏🏻❤️‍🔥🌷

First, one has to find the psychic being, make it one’s sole preoccupation and the occupation. It means an ongoing inner concentration in the centre of the heart on the Divine Presence there. This should continue even while doing all the activities of life, just as a human mother is occupied with the infant baby even while she is busy with a hundred different things. So too the mind and heart must be preoccupied with the discovery of the Divine Presence within. One can take help in this inner concentration on the heart (centre of the chest) by taking the Mother’s Name, contemplating upon Her Image, a mantra that spontaneously arises within.

Along with this, one should try to grow in inner quietude, peace, equanimity by becoming a witness to all the various habitual reactions and responses that arise within us. We should make conscious choices to express only those movements that help us and the world progress and move forward, while carefully avoiding in speech and action all that would harm and hinder our own and other’s progress.

One should spend time in reading books that uplift and inspire us, such as Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri, The Mother’s Prayers and Meditations. It is necessary to be careful of one’s friends and the company one keeps.

Slowly, one will begin to grow aware of a Presence within, a formless but concrete Reality like a luminous flame, an inner warmth and sweetness, an unalloyed peace and joy, a subtle inner guidance that softly indicates the direction we must take, the right thing to be done. By listening to it and following its guidance, the nature slowly gets groomed by the psychic being in us to become a transparent channel and a faithful instrument of the Divine.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Today marked my fourth visit to Sri Aurobindo Sadhanalay, Ayodhya, where I experienced a distinctly unique divine presence with Hanuman ji, followed by a sudden, deep descent of peace and delight while meditating in the Sri Aurobindo and Mother’s Relics Room. 🏦😊🙏🏻🌻[…]

The Sri Aurobindo Sadhanalaya in Ayodhya is no doubt quite a beautiful place full of deep spiritual vibrations. The vigraha of Hanuman ji is jagrat, possibly due to the bhakti of Babaji Maharaj who lived there before coming to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry. It is indeed a beautiful story. Even the other temple on the other …

Based on chapters 1, 2, and 3 of The Life Divine, I was wondering how Sri Aurobindo comes to the conclusion that an omnipresent reality exists and that only this reality explains the universe. 🌌🙂🙏🏻🪷[…]

The logic trail is as follows. Human beings, cutting across the differences in time, space and education seek or aspire for some ultimate of  freedom,  knowledge, truth, power, joy. The seeking is universal and hence suggestive of these things (we seek) hidden somewhere. ..
