AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

The only way we are taught to learn Gratitude is by counting the things that we have to be grateful for, our health, our families, well-wishers, the comfortable standard of living, etc. and comparing ourselves with the people who have less than us, who have more hardship, more challenges. 🙄🙏🏻🪷🦋[…]

We are even told to be grateful for the hardships when they come because they are, in one way or another, good for us. These methods are not working for me. What can I do? In daily practice, what can I do?

These methods obviously don’t work because their focus is only on the material life and outer existence. And as any even slightly sensitive person will know, there is so much more than our material existence and it is far from perfect. It is only dull people who are satisfied only with money and all that money can buy us. As we rise in the scale of evolution, we seek much more. But for this, we have to labour, put in effort, discover a valid purpose, know the direction our effort should take, be aware of the help we receive in our journey. The higher humanity feels grateful for these things. But the highest type are grateful simply because they have the faith and the intuitive sense that the Divine exists and is carrying them through all the trials and challenges of life. They trust the Divine Presence and feel that the Divine will carry them to the one true goal, of becoming one with the Divine and growing in His higher Nature. They are grateful just to know that they are not alone, the Divine Grace is always there helping them always even when things seem impossible. And because they feel so, because they are open to the Divine, they receive the Help much more readily and grow in more and more gratitude and faith.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
