Then I started feeling guilty, helpless, and angry at life for having to go through this. I would pray to Mother to make it easy every day. However, eventually I decided to mix it in lemonade or orange juice and leave it in a cup for her and asked Mother to bless the cup so whatever is required may reach her, with an approach of “do your actions and leave the result to the Divine’s care”. However, my question is regarding what my action and attitude should be in this situation
1. Do not give her the medicine and let Mother do what she needs.
2. Maybe Mother has guided us to the doctor who has prescribed iron supplements, and I should try harder.
3. Leave it in a cup for my daughter and pray she be guided by the Divine Mother.
I am very much open to any other possibilities as well. I have only listed what my little mind had the capacity of thinking.
First, with regard to the value of an action. It is not the action itself but the intent that matters most. Whatever you did was an act of love, with utmost goodwill for your child. That is all that is needed. I am sure this love and goodwill and your prayers all have gone into her improvement and not just the medicines alone.
As to the medication itself, once we visit a doctor, it is best to trust him. Doubts create confusion. If at all, we should supplement our trust in the doctor with informed knowledge. The medication seems to be mainly of the nature of supplements. The child may not like it, but if it is felt necessary by the physician, it has to be given. After all the child does not know what is best for him. That is the role of the parents.
You did the right thing to mix it with lemonade and keep it with prayers to the Mother. Nothing more should be required or needs to be done.

So you see question of guilt does not arise even remotely. It is the intent that is important. And since children do not know what is good for them they need to be guided by the parents. So it is all perfectly fine.
