Marriage is meant to represent the occult truth of Purusha and Prakriti. It is the coming together of the masculine or passive and ideative with the dynamic and practical aspects of human nature. The soul is beyond gender but our individual nature works along these two lines, masculine and feminine. The soul itself is above gender. But in the course of its earthly evolutionary journey it generally, though not invariably or always, follows the masculine or the feminine aspects of nature.
