Depends upon what we call intuition. What most people mistake for intuition is sudden suggestions arising in the mind, bypassing the rational process. These suggestions come from all kinds of forces in the cosmic consciousness to which the mind easily opens. The forces of cosmic consciousness are not necessarily forces of truth. The cosmic consciousness is a mixed field of cosmic truth as well as cosmic ignorance. A well-known instance is that of Hitler, who received such suggestions, even had visions and believed them to be intuition. Whereas in actuality these were promptings from the Asura of falsehood who pushed Hitler’s ambition for power and used it to perpetuate so much horror and evil. It takes a long time to have flashes of true intuition and even these get distorted as they enter a mind filled with passion, lust and other forms of disturbances. That is why Reason is the first guide given to man, a clear discerning reason that can differentiate between what is coming from and bringing peace, unity, harmony, joy and, in contrast, what is bringing chaos, disharmony, disorder. Intuition acts best when the mind is quiet and undisturbed. As long as the mind is not at peace, as long as desires, fears, ambition occupy the mind, it is safer to distrust suggestions that try to masquerade as intuitions, following which life can be grossly misled and even land up sometimes on a precipice, especially if one accepts the suggestions that flatter in the name of intuition but are the promptings of the Asura fanning our hidden ambitions.
