AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

This evening, while doing parikarma at the Ashram, my friend called me on the phone. He is also a Sri Aurobindo devotee and requested that I pray at Samadhi on his behalf for help in his sadhana, as he told me that he is currently encountering trouble in his spiritual practice. Spontaneously, I agreed and did so. Please guide me on how to approach such situations. 🙏🏻🕊️

We can certainly pray for someone wherever we are or may be. Though prayer is a privilege given to everyone, it is true that prayer from the heart (the true seat of prayer) comes more easily to some people. Besides, there are places where the Divine Presence is much more active for various reasons. Of course, the Ashram is so much more in terms of the very special vibrations that it carries.

So while prayers for intercessation (Divine Intervention) are normal, all that one has always guard against always is the ego that finds the slightest pretext to enter. If a prayer works, it is not because of the person who prayed for the intercession but because of the Divine Grace that decided to intervene for its own reasons. Our prayer was perhaps just an occasion or an excuse. Or perhaps it was a privilege given by the Grace to mediate in its incalculable purposes.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Any logical statistically oriented person would laugh at this ridiculous conclusion. It shows an a priori bias since you are giving an exaggerated importance to one instance while ignoring several others….
