You can read the prose translation of the original epic of Homer, The Iliad, and, The Odyssey. Both are wonderful books. The original is in Greek poetry which will only end up justifying the phrase ‘it is all Roman and Greek’. Of course nothing can even remotely compare to Sri Aurobindoโs Ilion. But as stories / novel I had found both very interesting.
