Jesus was not just someone who had realised the Divine but an Avatara, a being who had come from the higher dimension to help humanity. Sri Aurobindo speaks of him as someone who came to humanise a barbaric humanity. His message of peace, brotherhood and love is still relevant. In essence, it was a combination of the teachings of the Buddha, though later on, certain aspects of the Vaishnav tradition got mixed into it.Β
The idea of original sin is actually a profound mystic concept. It is about the nature of material existence, the birth into a material body that has emerged out of the Inconscience. This stamp of ignorance due to the dense material cover that blinds the soul is the original sin. Faith in the Divine, especially in the Divine assuming a human body, is the redemption by faith. This is the original Divine Sacrifice, the Divine assuming a human body to redeem our physical existence. However, this secret is now lost and hardly understood by the Christians and the priests alike.
