This question is bothering me since long would be grateful for clarification thanks and regards .
The nature of the force that gets installed in an idol depends on the priest who invokes the Deity and, having invoked, is engaged in the daily worship. It is not easy to keep the Deities from the higher regions to remain tied for long. The priest involved in the everyday worship and care should be a person with a living faith and untainted devotion. In the absence of such a person or when he is gone, it is the collective faith that matters most as to the nature of the Deity. If the collective faith of the people visiting a temple is mainly for the fulfilment of desires, mannat, then the higher deities withdraw and generally some force or power from the lower vital world occupies its place to extend its empire upon earth. Such places then become known for wish-fulfilment which is often very temporary and cones with a concealed price. Since the lower vital entities grant the wishes, if they can, by creating an unnatural dig somewhere else, it disturbs the cosmic order. A recompense often follows sooner or later to keep the balance. Besides a relationship starts getting formed between the lower deity and the person which obstructs the inner progress towards the higher regions. This can be a serious bondage and sometimes even turn dangerous if the force occupying the place once dedicated to a great Deity is replaced by an Asuric being or even worse. The lower vital world is full of dangerous beings who have certain specific powers for good and for evil and their influence is not good for the evolving soul of man.
That is why the great Masters always advice to surrender and live by the Will of God. Difficult though it may be to begin with, it proves to be the best approach as we advance upon the Path. Of course the Divine and His true representatives also intervene and grant our prayers but they do it in a way that does not disturb the cosmic order. That however is a different subject.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
