However, slow career progression occasionally brings disappointment, especially when younger colleagues move ahead through workplace politics. While I find deep relief in the Mother’s advice to remain simple, sincere, and do my work as best as I can without attachment to the results, these subtle, vital pangs of comparison still arise. What is your guidance on this, Alok Da—am I approaching my work and career in the right spirit?
This is just the perfect approach and the right attitude you have taken from the perspective of yoga. It will give you time, space and the energy needed to focus on your inner spiritual progress, which should be of the prime importance. The fast-track life in an atmosphere of ambition and competition is not very conducive for inner growth. It externalises too much and often takes a heavy toll on the inner journey. The fast track of outer life often slows down the inner journey.
With prayers
Affectionately,
Alok Da
