AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Is it wise to switch from BCom to an MA and PhD in English to pursue a Teaching career, following one’s Heart’s call over the corporate world, and what specific books or practical steps beyond the syllabus can help build the necessary command of the subject before the March entrance exam? 📚✍️🎓🌟

I have written to you so many times about my career confusion, but I think I have heard the last and final call. After completing BCom, I’ll change my subject to English and do an MA in English. Then PhD, etc. Go into Teaching.

My heart will never accept the corporate world, and I don’t want to die working in a cubicle for the rest of my life and regret that I refused my heart’s call. I don’t have a very high kind of command of the subject, but I’ll achieve, with effort and the kind of will I have, I’ll achieve.

It’ll also take me closer to Sri Aurobindo. Will you subject some practical things to have enough command of this subject? I’ll take my entrance exam in March next year. Other than the Syllabus, what other books can I read to improve myself?

It is a good decision and in keeping with your nature and temperament. Read Sri Aurobindo, read other good writers in English, speak in English as much as you can, prepare for the exams and leave the rest in Her hands. 🌷

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Looking at my Bhabhi’s cruel behaviour during my father’s last days, I am unable to understand: What am I supposed to practically learn from her bad behaviour and this entire situation? How do I stop these painful memories from affecting my body and mind? 🥀😢💔

We have to learn only from our behaviours. We are responsible only for what we do and not for what others do. This is the first fundamental lesson of life.

What your Bhabhi has done goes with her. Each one faces the consequences of their actions. But by constantly…
