I pray and offer myself to Maa sincerely, but still, I struggle to take the right steps. Whenever I think of watching videos or reading about Maa and Sri Aurobindo, my mind resists. I keep aspiring that βTomorrowβ I will wake up early, watch and read, and work towards Inner Growthβbut I end up failing…
When I try to work, after a few minutes, I feel sleepy and leave things incomplete. These days, Iβm also caught up in distractions like social media and other unhealthy habits. I lack consistency; even when I start with determination, it doesnβt last beyond one or two days. I truly want to change my life and overcome these habits so I can walk sincerely on the Spiritual Path.
Waking up in the morning is not the most important thing, though it is helpful to align one’s waking up with the sunrise. What is important is to remember the Mother for a few minutes when you wake up, when you go to sleep, before eating and studying, before doing any work and as often as you can. Apart from this, it is good to read just a passage or two from a simple book such as The Sunlit Path and to try to put just one thing into practice. Do some exercises daily and keep yourself busy learning, doing new things that help us progress.Β
Do not be impatient. It takes a long time to get one’s feet steady on the Path. It is also good to remember that the sadhana moves through life and nothing should be neglected. So do consciously whatever you do, offering it to the Mother. Most importantly, form a living bond with Her. Share your difficulties with the Mother, ask Her to help you towards the needed change. Yoga is primarily done by reliance on the Mother’s Grace, even while putting in one’s own little efforts.Β
Affectionately,
Alok Da
