AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Yesterday I had a dream in which I was in a three-wheeler autorickshaw as the only passenger. There was no driver, and the vehicle was uncontrollably moving down a hill on an earthen road. I was barely able to control it. The road had helical curves, and at the end—if I remember correctly—it either crashed or overturned, and the dream ended.💭🌜😴💤[…]

This morning when I woke up, I felt feverish, with a mild body ache. It was like having a fever, though not strongly visible outwardly, but felt more internally. There was no considerable rise in body temperature, but the sensation was like a regular fever—very strange. I should add that there seems to be no physical reason for this fever, as far as I can tell.

I even took an antipyretic, but the symptoms persisted. Then I remembered Sri Aurobindo’s writings on vital fever and the Mother’s comments on dreams and their effects on the physical body. Although the fever and body ache are mild, there is a noticeable lack of enthusiasm to work—that’s all, nothing major. I am not concerned about the mild fever, as it will be gone by the next day, but I am curious whether the dream has something to do with it or if it is just a physical ailment. Please share your thoughts.

Yes, it is clearly a dislocation. Possibly the mind was not in control of the body and the vital force that fuels it and the consciousness was gravitating downwards. The fever should settle down under the pressure of the mental will. It is important to keep the vital under check by the discerning mind, buddhi.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
