AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I was looking up for the Mother’s knowledge on mistakes and came across this one: “It is quite wrong to go on brooding about the past. The true attitude is to remember that nothing happens but by Godโ€™s will and to submit to that will quietly. If you have made mistakes in the past it is by lack of true surrender and the only way to repair the mistakes is to surrender truly.”ย How can I know if it is a mistake or God’s will? What is the internal compass for reference? How can I know for what I should take ownership vs surrender?๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Mistakes are a language of ignorance that makes the ego-self feel that it is the doer and hence responsible for all that happens. As long as we live in the ego-self we cannot escape the law of cause and effect, of karma and consequence. But the moment the ego realises that it is not the doer and things happen because we are caught in a web of ignorance and driven like a fly on the wheel by the forces of Nature such as fear, desires, ambition etc, then it abdicates itself and surrenders to the Divine. Once the surrender is made in sincerity, then the Divine pulls us out of the Ignorance and we see that what we called as mistakes and errors were simply part of a complex learning process through which Nature and God were preparing us to go beyond the ignorance and awaken to the higher need, the need for coming out of the Ignorance, the need for the Divine.

What we call as mistakes are, for the Divine Consciousness, simply the inevitable stumblings of the child as he learns to walk and learn or the babble and stammer of an infant as he learns to speak. The solution therefore is to learn to speak and walk and live consciously rather than lament and blame oneself or others. It is this relearning, this living consciously that the Divine facilitates in us by reprogramming us provided we surrender and give ourselves to Him with an aspiration to spiritually  progress and grow. As long as we do not do that we keep repeating the same tendency of Nature one way or the other.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
