I have mentioned it passingly. Some examples:
Physical level suffering due to accidents, injuries, diseases due to discoveries leading to better and more efficient management.
Science and technology has made life lot more easier.
Killing, looting, rape, plunders, snatching properties, crime of all kinds was far more rampant during last few hundred years all over the world. A little glimpse into world history is enough to see how much fear pervaded the human societies, groups and nations clashing constantly with groups. Equality, Liberty were unthinkable ideals. While the slogan appeared late 18th century but a larger scale implementation is post 60s as the grip of Imperialism gave way near completely.
Emotional suffering especially in women due to oppression at home and society is very much reduced if not completely gone.
The stifling of life due to few possibilities of self enlargement and self expression are largely reduced due to many new avenues of growth and progress. The amount of creative upsurge is mind-boggling. Life is clearly expanding into new rooms and unthought of possibilities.
There is a widespread reaching out of knowledge of every kind to the remotest corners reducing the suffering due to the mind remaining in a state of tamasic ignorance tied in narrow rigid formulas of life and belief systems.
Spiritual suffering due to the neat fit boxes of religious beliefs or ideological/theological cages has been replaced by a many sided exploration of man’s spiritual possibilities including the bridging and coming closer of Science and Spirituality.
Etc etc
Affectionately,
Alok Da
