AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Kindly Help me to understand and what attitude I should take according to the meaning of Sri Aurobindo’s aphorism ‘Hate not the oppressor, for, if he is strong, thy hate increases his force of resistance, if he is weak, thy hate was needless.’ because my individual will is too weak. How to strengthen the will and follow the path without deviation?πŸͺ·πŸ“œπŸ“•♾️

The Aphorism is mainly about the meaninglessness of hate because it creates further reactions in the opponent. It is like anger increases anger. It serves no purpose except harming both, the person who harbours it and the person towards whom it is directed.

As to strengthening the will, it is the same way like strengthening the muscles little by little, pushing it slowly to exceed the limit. One can start with practicing regularity and punctuality in whatever one does. Fix a time for everything and do it regardless (unless something very important comes up). For example if you decide to read Sri Aurobindo and the Mother at a fixed time then do it. If you want to take up an exercise or learn something new then do it regardless of the challenges. The same applies with things of our nature. Make a little rule for yourself that you will not rush to act or speak without stepping back or conscious deliberation. Make a little rule that before acting on any impulse you will inwardly say your mantra 10 times. Initially you will slip but keep your resolve regardless of failures. Get up after every fall and offer the difficulty to the Mother and seek Her Strength to help you get over the impulsive movement. Slowly the will gets stronger and the mastery becomes easier.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Dada, how to stop thinking? I mean, continuous thoughts are coming and going regarding useless things. Sri Aurobindo has said we have to watch thoughts and not attach any importance to them, but how should we do that? Or how to calm our minds and think about our Master’s only?🌊πŸŒͺοΈπŸ€―πŸƒπŸ§

While stopping of thoughts completely is not an easy thing, it is very much possible to direct the flow consciously towards an object. Thus, you can consciously let your thoughts run around the idea of God, or of a Divine…

Kindly let me know if the understanding below is incorrect: As SAT, CHIT, and ANANDA are the 3 aspects of PARABRAHMAN, meant for the manifestation in our universe, so are the infinite other aspects of PARABRAHMAN meant for the manifestation in many other universes. And that is how millions of universes, of different kinds, have been created by the Divine.πŸ•‰οΈπŸŒŒβœ¨πŸ‘οΈ

Sat, Chit-tapas, Ananda are the three principle aspects. All other aspects such as Peace, Wisdom, Knowledge, Compassion, Strength, Beauty, Harmony, Love are derived from these four fundamental aspects of the One Infinite. Each…
