AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and now nepal is crumbling. Even Myanmar Afghanistan are not what we would call a properly functioning nations and you also frequently mention mother’s prediction on internal breakup of Pakistan. The idea of confederation is a persistent theme in the human cycle, are all of these events clearing a way for the larger confederation of India in the future? I understand that naysayers would point out that we ourselves are a so called low income third world country with millions and millions depending on government rations to survive and so many other problems and there might be prestige issues on joining such a country but the neighbouring countries are in even worser situations with all their anarchy , will the Indian flag hurl over the entire subcontinent, is that a possibility in the near future?

Confederation means sharing together and growing together. It does not mean dependence of one country more and more upon others. That is what the US and most imperialist Western powers have been doing and such a model has failed already. A confederation, on the other hand, is mutual support and enrichment. There is no doubt if India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Bhutan and Nepal come together, without losing their ethnic and cultural identity of course, that will be a force to reckon with. It will also act as a bulwark against the expansionist ambition of China and the semi-imperial attitude of America. But both these powers, the US and China will not let it happen easily and so will the political ambition of these respective countries will allow it. It is only some kind of catastrophe or a massive geopolitical shift or difficult economic conditions that may push this block to come together. Akhand Bharat is good not only for India but all the other countries if they join their strengths together. That it will happen oneday is certain as none of these except India can sustain independently for very long. When and how is the question. Let us see.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
