AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Today, while listening to your recent talk, “Gratitude to the Divine” from the Nainital series, I was deeply moved. Hearing you read the lines from Sri Aurobindo’s poems was truly glorious. I found myself crying, and by the end, as you read the two passages from Savitri, I was sobbing uncontrollably. 💗🙏🏻 […]

It wasn’t out of sadness, but rather a profound, aching longing to be held in the Mother’s arms. The experience felt incredibly cleansing, reinforcing my deepest aspiration to surrender myself entirely to Her.

During this moment, a striking image came to my mind: a person with their face and arms outstretched, looking up towards the Light with eyes streaming with tears of joy, yet their feet remain heavily chained, rooted to the ground and bleeding. Immediately after, a second image appeared—the very same person bending down to gently stroke those chains. It perfectly illustrated the perversity Sri Aurobindo speaks of when he describes how humanity falls in love with its own bondage.

I want so desperately to give myself to Her, but I feel torn by conflict and the fears of ordinary life with its unending demands. I long to break free, yet I find myself deeply entangled. My constant prayer and aspiration is that I may always choose the Mother—in every single moment and across every state of consciousness. Because my nature can be quite unpredictable, I still worry about this at times. On a brighter note, I am filled with joy by how often the insights I receive directly from the Mother are confirmed almost immediately afterward in your talks, mirroring the exact same lines and message.

Human nature, ‘by its nature’, is unpredictable. Yet there is in us the One whose touch, and even mere glance, can break every chain and free us from every bond, including our own. Keep opening to Her, inwardly remember Her as often as you can and She will set you free even in the midst of all the outer bonds.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

It is not just a dream but a real experience. The empty room without furniture and a melancholic atmosphere is the mind and the child who entered there bringing fearlessness and joy is your psychic being who is absorbed in the play oblivious of everything else. You did good to call him again. The child comes naturally where its parents are who provide it the nourishment it needs. That nourishment for the soul is all that brings it the spiritual food, …

Dear Doctor, could you tell me what—within the process of surrender—recognizes and offers the parts of one’s being to the Mother? Is it the illumined mind, the dynamic will, psychological knowledge, or something else? 🔥🌸🙏🏻[…]

Generally it is the part that is most ready and turns towards the Divine takes the lead of the Sadhana. It may be the illumined mind in one person, or the deeper heart in another person, or the dynamic will in those who are oriented towards work and service. Behind it however there is always the psychic flame that has heard the call …
