AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What does Mother mean when she says that Nature plays mischief with us? Why does she cause so much obstruction through desires and impulsions, even when we sincerely seek the Divine? Isn’t she supposed to help us to develop quicker?🧠❤️🎭🌱

Sri Aurobindo explains (it is there in the Vedas as well as the Gita) that there is a double nature, – lower and higher. The lower nature applies to the animal and the higher to the Divine and the Divine Worlds. Man has both, the lower nature inherited from the animal past as well as the higher as a future possibility. The task of Nature (lower nature) is to prepare us for the higher Supernature. It is somewhat like going through the challenges and examinations of the School before we can take up the stream we are meant for. So all the mischiefs and difficulties and challenges of life are to prepare us for the real game we are meant to play at the highest level.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
