AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What is the ideal time to read Savitri? How should I read it? I wanna know from the pretext and context of what Sri Aurobindo is speaking in every chapter, canto, line. Is there any particular series where you have explained about Savitri chapter wise? What else I need to keep in mind regarding Savitri?ย โ™พ๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ“œโœ๏ธ

There is no such rules in Sri Aurobindo’s yoga as they did not want their teachings to turn into mechanical rituals as we see in religions. The fundamental truth of their teaching is that God is always there in every moment, everywhere, in everything. We need not have limited beliefs to enter into relation with Him. As The Mother said, ‘a minimum of rules’.

The only thing one needs to remember is that Savitri is not a book but a living reality, a living truth, a conscious being embodied in the book. Therefore one should always approach it with the sense of the sacred. It is best not to keep any other book on top of it and not to mix it with all kinds of other works by different teachers.

There are series of talks on Savitri including line by line rendering. There are also writings on Savitri to orient us with a little bit of background and the context. You will find them all on Auromaa.org website. And of course you are welcome to clarify on any specific line or passage anytime.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
