AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Gopis loved Krishna but all of them except Radha experienced all the typical elements of lower nature such as jealousy, longing to tie him near them, possessiveness and all the rest. It is the typical human love transfered towards the Divine. That is why perhaps the personality of Radha has been brought in. Of course Radha does exist but in the Bhagawat she does not find a direct mention. Radha’s love is entire self-giving. Is it little wonder that Sri Krishna reveals the one and only Gita only to Arjuna, calls him His eternal Companion as Nara- Narayana.ย ๐Ÿฆš๐Ÿชˆ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿน

The love of gopa and gopis has a strong element of want. Demand and love do not go together. The streams of true love and bhakti are released when Sri Krishna departs from Vrindavan. They miss him and then gradually they turn this love inward towards the discovery of Sri Krishna within. Nevertheless it is primarily a movement of the heart. With Arjun this love takes the form not only of a devotion towards Krishna but obedience to His Will and the joy of serving Him in the world. That is why with Sri Krishna’s physical departure it is the Pandavas who are most affected and walk away to the Himalayas renouncing everything. Arjuna’s love in this regard is much more complete.

Bhakti is simply a general term indicating one who takes joy in God. Relations are the shades it takes.

As to Adwait, Sri Krishna clarifies it in the Gita itself. The Adwaitin steps out of the Kshara and realises the Akshara, the Immutable passive Brahman without form and name and features and relations. But beyond the stillness of the Akshara is the Divine Personality, the Purushottama or the Ishwara or the dynamic Brahman one with the Shakti.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Dear Alok Ji, can you please tell me how I can get rid of my anger at Sri Aurobindo and also how to regain trust in him? ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’—

Trust is a very precious, priceless gift. Even among human beings it is special. But when it is towards the Divine then it should be doubly carefully guarded.ย ย

Again anger is an extremely harmful emotion towards anyone. It hurts and harms both, the one who harbours it and the one towards whom it is directed. But since one cannot harm or hurt the Divine Beings, it falls back upon oneself creating a terrible karma. By all means desist it. It is the straight road to fall…

At one end, aspiration for the Divine and to unite with Him and to have a change of consciousness; to do The Mother’s work; at the other end, need for a proper awareness in the very ordinary and externalised human nature about the deep meaning and implication of what is happening in life and also what the Divine Destiny is. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป[…]

It is much better to catch the knot of life at the other end from where it all begins. The riddle of life cannot be understood on the surface. Focus on the one thing needful, the Divine, and all the rest will begin to fall in its place. This has been the experience of all who have gone on the path.ย

I am reading the Synthesis of Yoga and Sri Aurobindo is speaking about the union having a threefold character (pg. 131). I wanted to understand whether this is a skilful parallel to draw: a union by identity = Atman = Brahman ๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป […]

Here is the passage from the Synthesis of Yoga to which you are referring.
