However, instead of my office, I found myself wandering through temple crowds in the rain, frantically searching for the venue near Ashram. I woke up exhausted, but realized I wasn’t confused in the dream about why my office was located near our Ashram. What is the meaning behind this dream, Alok da?

The meaning of this dream is very clear. The office you are searching for is the work you are here to do which, as the dream itself indicates, is in the Ashram, – either the School or the Guest House, perhaps both.

The vehicle is your life and its journey has been shown to you; the symbols of which are very clear. The fast vehicle, but delays and breakdowns; the group life, white canopy of sorts, going through the crowded places and the temples before reaching its true destination in this life. The breakdown points are possibly moments of previous lives through which the journey continued. And then the miraculous landing, just trailing behind a little despite the delays. There are three main reasons for this phenomenon in adolescents.

1. Partly it is the nature of the Age we live in, an Age of exceptional freedom and equality. Hence the old norms and patterns are gone and none of the old methods such as fear, punishment etc work.

2. There is lack of self discipline in the students as well as the teachers. The more a teacher exercises self-mastery the more he or she automatically exercises control over the students.

3. The subject itself may not be interesting or else presented in an interesting way that connects with the students. One should be creative and try to find better ways of engaging them with interesting examples.

Sometimes I find myself in situations where I have done nothing wrong, yet someone falsely blames or slanders me, and even those in authority seem to believe it. Personally, I do not feel the urge to defend or prove myself by explaining, because it seems to me that the person has already decided their position. 🕊️🌸[…]
