Yet daily disorientation and lack of intrinsic motivation leave me completely drained, making even basic action feel impossible. A quiet inner voice urges me to dedicate myself fully to finding the Psychic Being, but my mind counters that samata requires attending to all aspects of life, dampening my spiritual eagerness. Alok Da, how can I overcome this executive paralysis to find purpose, and should I prioritize this single-minded search for the Psychic over mental notions of balance? Jai Maa.
First thing first. It is to stop using any label to define or describe yourself. Each one has his or her own unique difficulties and challenges. You have yours. These challenges have to be dealt with, each in their own way. For example, if concentration and motivation is a challenge, then one has to find ways and means to augment. What one has to remember here is that if there is in us a faith and genuine will to change, then there is nothing impossible. Take it as a puzzle of life given to you. If you work through it, you evolve tremendously; that is to say, take a leap towards the future. But if one succumbs, giving various justifications such as dopamine and diagnosis, or get into groves of depression, then one has to face the challenge again, perhaps in more difficult ways. Keep the will and faith intact and things will eventually change. Along with this, if one can open to the Divine Grace then there is nothing impossible.
First, fix the goal of life with clarity. Finding the soul, the psychic being, or finding the Divine within is an excellent goal to live for. Turn your feet in that direction and stick to it even if all around is changing. Practice some inner concentration and remembrance of the Divine Mother. Keep sharing all your outer and inner difficulties with Her and ask for Peace. With peace will come all the rest. Practice equanimity. The search for the soul is primarily an inner search. The different outer activities can go on, except activities that increase excitement or cloud the mind, such as smoking and drinking. Avoid sugars and keep a balance in food as well as the sleep-wake cycle.
Do some proper exercises every day and stay busy. Read uplifting works and practice stepping back inwardly before rushing into speech and action.
May Her Grace be with you.
Affectionately
Alok Da
