AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Is the Divine in our Heart always listening? I sometimes talk randomly and pray to the Divine in my heart, but I want to know if he is paying attention 24/7 or do we have to concentrate for some time and then He/She wakes up and listens? 🤔❤️‍🔥

The Divine is everywhere and in everything, keeping a vigil over every soul and intervening in critical moments when we seek with all the ardour of our hearts. But obviously, He does not engage in random private conversations. Not that it is useless to do so, since even when we randomly talk to Him, at least something in us is trying to get in touch with him. It primes the surface consciousness. But to come in contact with the Divine, one has to be quiet, very quiet and then turn inwards. Of course, He / She is always awake but hidden behind the veils of ignorance, attachment and desires. The veil has to be removed first. Otherwise, there is no point in just speaking and sharing all kinds of things.

Also, who is it that listens? Is it our personal soul? Is it the Supreme and the Divine Mother? Or do their Overmental forms like Sri Krishna and Mahakali can also be found within, or do we need to consecrate their divinity through spiritual practices or methods, as in the various?

It depends upon the content and the attitude. If we are simply engaging in demands and desires, then it reaches His ears through the particular gods. If one has turned to the Mother and She has accepted, then it is She who listens directly and responds. Eventually, however, it always goes back to the Supreme and the response comes from there. The gods modify it, though.

I know that the Divine does listen because some of my doubts seem to get cleared when I concentrate on my heart and pray (praying not with the hands joined and eyes closed, but simply talking in my mind with the heart in focus). The divine also makes sure to show he is present by various incidents, some of which are quite amazing.

Every time I write to Sri Aurobindo or The Mother asking some question, no matter how stupid the question is, it still gets answered, and it is unbelievable how tremendously easy they have made it is for us now to contact them in this way.

But besides writing, what if we don’t write but just speak while working or doing any other activity?

It means that They have accepted you and you are meant for this path. Hence, the response and the signs.

But still, this doubt remains whether the Divine truly listens 24/7 all the time we talk to him through our Heart, or we have to do some spiritual methods or meditation? Can you please guide me in this matter?

Why doubt and block the channels from your side when She has opened and keeps them opened.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I have been a devotee of Hanumanji from my childhood. Traditionally we believe that Hanumanji still stays in the earth. I am curious that in the present Avatar of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo, what is the role he is playing? Also, have you had any experiences with him? Thank you!

Hanuman ji is a wonderful god who grants bhakti and shakti to those engaged in the sewa of The Lord. That has been my experience with him.

In the Mahabharata itself there is a story of Hanuman ji teaching a lesson of humility to Bhimsen ji. He also protects the chariot of Arjuna against occult forces. In Kaliyuga he has manifested through some mystics, the most famous instance being of Neemkaroli baba. In the new cycle that has begun now, the old guardians and the…

Bhaiya, how did you deal with the whole Rakhi thing when your sister used to send you rakhis? I find this whole thing to be more of a formality: sending the rakhi, then repeatedly asking if I’ve tied it or not, asking for photos, etc. 📿👦🏻🏵️👧🏻[…]

As an adolescent I would react against all these customs and traditions, not because they are wrong but because, they are not needed to express the inner bond of love between a sister and brother.  Later, on taking up the Yoga my attachment with the family of birth…
