The process of psychicisation may start with any of the parts that are open and ready. In most human beings, it is the mind and/or the heart, the heart especially so because of its proximity to the psychic centre.
One of the first changes that one notices with the awakening of the psychic consciousness is the increase in aspiration. This aspiration takes different forms in different people, such as, aspiration or seeking for true knowledge, for Truth, for Wisdom in the mind. There is a seeking and yearning for the Divine, a longing for the nearness of the Divine. There awakens the need to give oneself or something of oneself to the Divine, money or time or energy. Then there develops the urge to serve the Divine, to put the bodily instrument at the service of the Divine, to live for the Divine. As a result, there is a shift of life’s motives from selfish little aims to the greater goals of finding and serving the Divine. The consciousness automatically begins to go deeper and one is no longer affected and afflicted by the things that used to affect. Concentration begins to happen more and more naturally and there is a need for solitude, which one begins to love. One seeks the company of God-lovers and fellow-seekers and no longer enjoys the discussions centred around money, food, clothes and outer things. The charm and attraction of the world begins to fade and one is naturally drawn towards Truth, Beauty, Goodness and Love. Most of the daivi qualities described in the Gita and the elements of the Buddhist dharma, including right understanding, right discernment, right perception, right action, compassion, forgiveness, enthusiasm for the Divine Service, gratitude, faith, sincerity, courage, kindness, generosity, harmony and a number of other qualities. Most importantly, one begins to feel one’s Swadharma, the work that one is here to do, the work that best expresses one’s truth.
All fear of death passes away as one becomes conscious of one’s immortality. All doubts vanish and in their place, an unshakable faith and the certitude of Divine Victory is established.
The influence of the psychic being brings wideness into the mind, unconditional love and bhakti in the heart, along with a sweetness, warmth and cheerfulness, strength in the vital, health in the body. One repels illnesses naturally and ahaituki (without demands) blossoms in the heart. In any case, it ensures that one surrenders the ego completely to the Divine.
Sooner or later, the psychic opens the doors to other aspects of transformation such as universalisation, opening to higher levels of mind, evolution of new faculties, etc., but of that one need not speak now.
