Yes, the mind believes that it can know but if we look closely, all our efforts to understand are based on false premises and a’priori conditioning. It has formed opinions, often fixed views that it wants to see justified by the Divine and reflect in His actions. If things do not happen as it wants them to happen, it begins to doubt the presence of God and rejects the Guidance in favour of his mind’s so-called practical wisdom. Sri Aurobindo is cautioning us against this tendency of judging things based on the mind’s ideas and preferences. Instead we should have complete faith in the Divine Grace and trust Its Ways.
