AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What are Mother’s Agenda books? And there are 13 volumes, which volume should I read & which is easy to read? Are Odia translations also available? 📚😊🙏🏻📖

The Mother’s Agenda are the Recordings of Conversations between the Mother and some of the disciples, especially one of the French disciple by the name Bernard, whom the Mother was renamed as Satprem. The Conversations were regularly recorded by him. Portions of the recording were published in the quarterly bulletin of the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education as per the Mother’s direction to Nolini da.

Later, after the Mother’s physical withdrawal, Satprem was asked to hand over the recorded tapes. He refused to do so and hence he was sent away or perhaps chose to leave the Ashram along with the tapes.

Later, he published almost all the recordings after editing them himself. It is these that form the 13 volumes of the Mother’s Agenda.

The recordings are in French and have been translated into different languages, including English and Hindi.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Dada, I love reading discourses with disciples; how did some of them go away? To even share a glance with them is a Grace. Those who went away were those who, despite Sri Aurobindo’s repeated cautions, could not or rather refused to open to The Mother. They did not turn away because they had defects of nature. They went away because they …

When I came to this place, the people here are like, “Why are you worshipping them like God?!” Will you jump from the building if Sri Aurobindo tells you to? You yourself aren’t an evolved being; how will you represent their teachings? 💔😥🙏🏻🌼[…]

Faith is the starting point of any journey. When one says that one must question everything doesn’t it imply faith in one’s ability to find the answer to everything? Doesn’t it also imply faith in the ability of the human mind to find the answer through the use of the sceptical intellect? Faith is the starting point of every journey. Its end is knowledge. …

Q1. Is human suffering viewed by the Divine as ultimately illusionary and mainly evolutionary or corrective in nature? The mind, life, and body seem to suffer, while the psychic being assimilates experience for growth — as in Savitri, where the soul “drinks experience like a strengthening wine.” Is this broadly correct? 😊🙏🏻🌼🍂

Yes in a way. But that does not mean that the Divine is indifferent to our suffering. He knows it, knows its true cause and is offering the real cure. It is like a physician who empathises even when he gives a…
