I would rather advice that you sit with your parents, try to understand their viewpoint, and, if there is still some confusion, then listen to them. They are always the best well wishers and even though they do not know everything they understand their child best. It is not just decades of bonding and experience since birth but a strong maternal instinct that is generally correct about what is good regarding the child. Yes they may and do get angry and children do not like it. But even behind this anger there is love that is trying to push the child along a line which they think is best. They may be wrong but the intent is right.
And if that is difficult then instead of despair one should turn to the Divine Mother with full faith and know that the Divine will never fail.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
